Meloni: A new working group has been established for Europe’s competitiveness
Rome, February 12 (Hibya) - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced that during the informal EU summit held in Belgium, together with Germany and Belgium, they held the first meeting of a new strategic working group aimed at increasing Europe’s economic competitiveness.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni chaired the meeting on the sidelines of the informal EU Heads of State and Government gathering held at Alden Biesen Castle in Belgium.
Meloni said, "On the margins of the informal meeting of EU Heads of State and Government held in Alden Biesen, together with German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever, we hosted the inaugural meeting of a new informal working group dedicated to European competitiveness issues."
Meloni noted that there was broad participation in the meeting, stating that in addition to Italy, Germany, Belgium and the European Commission, Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Sweden were also represented.
Emphasizing that discussions focused on three main strategic priorities, Prime Minister Meloni said, "The debate focused on the three priorities outlined in the policy paper prepared by Italy, Germany and Belgium: completion of the Single Market; simplification of regulations and reduction of energy prices; and an ambitious and pragmatic trade policy."
