Merz: Tax cut of around 17 cents per liter coming for gasoline and diesel
Berlin, September 18 (Hibya) - German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that taxes on gasoline and diesel will be reduced by around 17 cents per liter in order to ease the impact of high fuel prices.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced a plan to reduce taxes on fuel prices.
Merz said, “Relief from fuel prices is coming. Whether commuters, businesses or ordinary drivers, high fuel prices are putting pressure on our country.”
Merz said that, together with the federal states, taxes on gasoline and diesel would be reduced by around 17 cents per liter, adding that the measure is planned to remain in effect from October 1 until the end of 2026.
