Pavel: The Church plays an important role in ending conflicts
Prague, January 19 (Hibya) – Czech President Petr Pavel emphasized the Church’s influence in global diplomacy during his meeting with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican.
Czech President Petr Pavel met with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican as part of his visit, holding consultations on global peace, dialogue, and democratic values.
Highlighting the significance of the meeting, Pavel said: “It was a great honor for me to meet Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican. The Church has extraordinary diplomatic influence and plays an important role in finding ways to end conflicts. At a time when Europe’s future is being fundamentally shaped, dialogue is crucial.”
Underlining cooperation among democratic countries, Pavel added: “The Pope and I agreed that democratic countries are natural partners and should continue to be so, and that they must work together for security and peace in the world.”
Pavel continued: “Eva and I are deeply grateful that the Pope accepted our invitation to the Czech Republic, and we believe that we will be able to host him in our country soon.”
