Prevot: Attacks on peacekeepers are serious violations of international law
Brussels, March 30 (Hibya) - Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot emphasized that attacks on peacekeepers constitute serious violations of international law, reacting to the killing of a United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) soldier in southern Lebanon.

Stating that the soldiers are there to serve peace, Prevot said, "Belgium strongly condemns this incident and expresses full solidarity with Indonesia. We extend our condolences to the family of the fallen soldier and wish a speedy recovery to the injured officer."
Prevot pointed out that attacks on peacekeepers are serious violations of international law and may constitute war crimes, adding, "Those responsible must be held accountable. Lebanon needs de-escalation."
