Providing information about the situation on the ground and safety advisories for citizens, Prevot said, “The earthquake off Mindanao Island in the Philippines has caused deaths, injuries, and significant damage. Tsunami warnings have been issued across the region.”
Referring to the work of the embassy, Prevot stated, “The situation continues to evolve. Our embassy is closely monitoring developments on the ground and stands ready to assist all Belgian citizens in the affected areas. I urge all Belgians in the Philippines to follow the instructions of local authorities and register with Travellers Online.”
