According to a statement from the Kremlin press service, “an exchange of views took place regarding the situation around Ukraine, including the U.S. proposals for a peaceful settlement.”

Putin stated that the U.S. proposals being examined by Moscow are consistent with the discussions held on 15 August in Alaska with U.S. President Donald Trump. He added that the U.S. plan could, in principle, form the basis of a final peace agreement.

Erdoğan expressed his intention to facilitate the negotiation process and his willingness to provide the Istanbul platform. The parties agreed to intensify Russia–Turkey contacts at various levels regarding the peace process.

According to the Kremlin, Erdoğan also shared his impressions of his visit to the G20 summit in Johannesburg and his meetings with world leaders.

The two presidents also discussed cooperation within the context of bilateral relations, emphasizing the expansion of trade and investment ties and the implementation of energy projects.
