Qatar has completed preparations for high-level participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Advisor to the Qatari Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari announced that Qatar had completed preparations for the session to be held in September at UN Headquarters in New York.

Al Ansari said this year’s session will be held under the theme “Regaining Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers Results for Everyone,” adding that the meetings will take place in an international environment shaped by recent tensions in the region.

In a statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Ansari said Qatari officials will hold bilateral and multilateral meetings on the sidelines of the General Assembly session with counterparts from various countries and representatives of international and regional organizations.

Al Ansari said the meetings will address strengthening relations in various fields, creating new areas of cooperation and deepening strategic partnerships. Regional and international developments will also be assessed, and possible steps to reduce tensions in the region will be discussed.

Al Ansari said Qatar is actively participating in efforts to end regional and international tensions, adding that his country is undertaking initiatives aimed at paving the way for solutions that can achieve stability and sustainable peace in the region.

Al Ansari said Qatar’s participation in this year’s UN General Assembly will focus on supporting international peace and security and promoting dialogue, mediation and de-escalation. He added that upholding respect for international law and the UN Charter will also be among the priorities.

Al Ansari said Qatar will also attach importance to strengthening multilateralism, restoring confidence in the international system, supporting sustainable development and humanitarian efforts, and ensuring that aid reaches the people and countries most in need.

Al Ansari said Qatar will continue its mediation efforts despite the crises and challenges facing the region, adding that these issues will be addressed within the framework of the UN General Assembly.
