RIA: Türkiye expects leaders of Russia, the US, and Ukraine to meet on its soil
Moscow, August 4 (Hibya) – Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported, citing sources from the Turkish Presidency, that Türkiye expects a meeting between the leaders of Russia, the US, and Ukraine to take place in Türkiye soon.
The source stated that there is no specific date or timeframe yet, but they expect the meeting to happen in the near future.
When asked about the possibility of such a summit before the end of the year, the source responded, “There is no defined timeframe, but we expect it to happen soon. However, no specific date has been set.”
The agency recalled that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had previously expressed interest in a potential meeting in Istanbul with US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that there is no concrete plan to hold a presidential meeting in Türkiye.
Russia and Ukraine have held three rounds of direct negotiations in Istanbul. The talks resulted in prisoner exchanges. The Russian Federation also handed over the bodies of deceased soldiers to the Kyiv regime. Additionally, the sides exchanged draft memorandums regarding conflict resolution.
