Rubio: Afrikaners fleeing South Africa will be welcomed in the U.S.
Washington, May 12 (Hibya) – U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the United States is opening its doors to the Afrikaner community allegedly facing persecution in South Africa.
In a social media post, Rubio stated: “As the President has guaranteed, Afrikaners fleeing persecution will be warmly welcomed in the United States.”
Rubio criticized the South African government’s treatment of the community, calling threats of private property seizure and racial discrimination unacceptable. “The South African government has treated these people horribly,” Rubio said, emphasizing that the Trump administration is proud to offer them asylum in the U.S.
