Rubio: The U.S. will not host those who support anti-American regimes
Washington, April 4 (Hibya) - U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the legal status of Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, the niece of Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani, and her daughter had been terminated and that they had been detained pending deportation.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said a new sanctions process had been launched against individuals residing in the United States and carrying out activities in favor of the Iranian regime.
Drawing attention to the identities and activities of those individuals, Rubio said: “Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were people living in luxury in the United States and holding residency permits. Afshar is the niece of the late Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime; she has celebrated attacks against Americans and described our country as the ‘Great Satan’.”
Stating that the legal process had been carried out swiftly, Secretary Rubio said: “This week, I terminated the legal status of both Afshar and her daughter, and they are now in ICE custody awaiting deportation from the United States.”
Emphasizing the Trump administration’s national security and foreign policy principles, Rubio concluded his statement by saying: “The Trump administration will not allow our country to host foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes.”
