Russian President Putin meets with Sports Minister Degtyarev
Moscow, June 9 (Hibya) – Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev to discuss the development of children’s sports and adaptive sports for individuals with disabilities in the country.
During the meeting, Minister Degtyarev briefed the President on ongoing efforts to establish a Russian Sports Fund. Plans were also discussed to launch a new state program titled “Russia’s Sport.”
A Kremlin statement indicated that efforts continue to promote sports across society and strengthen sports infrastructure.
President Putin highlighted priority issues in the sports sector, noting that sport is not a new field for Degtyarev, who worked in this area during his tenure in the State Duma. He added that serving in government requires a more concrete and implementation-oriented approach.
Putin emphasized that one of the main topics was the shared responsibility of regional, local, and federal authorities in children’s and youth sports.
