NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte praised Estonia's defense investments and its support for Ukraine during a joint press conference held in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.

Emphasizing Estonia's crucial role within the Alliance, Rutte said:

"You do not simply rely on the Alliance; as Estonia, you strengthen it. You are leading in defense investment. Your core defense spending this year is indeed above 5% of your gross domestic product, one of the highest levels across NATO. Estonia is not only meeting its commitments but also setting the standards. You have also demonstrated extraordinary leadership on Ukraine. Since 2022, you have provided more than 850 million euros in military assistance and trained several thousand Ukrainian soldiers."
