Schoof: As Europe, we must act in a coordinated manner
Brussels, January 22 (Hibya) – Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said he would address transatlantic cooperation at the informal European Council meeting in Brussels.
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, who traveled to Brussels to attend the informal European Council meeting, made statements on the future of Europe and transatlantic relations.
Stating that he would meet with his counterparts during the meeting, Schoof said regarding Europe’s stance on the global political stage: “I have come to Brussels for the informal European Council meeting; here I will discuss transatlantic cooperation with my counterparts. As Europe, we must clearly and resolutely defend our values and interests, and act in a united and coordinated manner.”
Drawing attention to global competitive conditions and power politics, Prime Minister Schoof concluded: “If necessary, even in a world where power politics are increasingly coming to the fore, we must also have the instruments to implement our position through action in extreme situations.”
