Schoof: The regime in Iran violently suppresses all protests
Amsterdam, 12 January (Hibya) – Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof condemned the Iranian regime’s violent crackdown on protests and stated that the Netherlands supports the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom.
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof made a statement regarding the events in Iran and his country’s stance on civil protests.
Criticizing the current situation in Iran, Schoof said: “The regime in Iran violently suppresses all forms of protest. As a result, many people have been killed. The brave men and women on the streets of Iranian cities deserve our support. They stand against oppression and raise their calls for freedom loudly.”
Expressing the demands of the Dutch government, Prime Minister Schoof said: “The Netherlands calls on the Iranian regime to stop the violence, release those unjustly detained, and restore access to the internet.”
Emphasizing the international stance, Schoof concluded: “We will continue to firmly support the rights of the Iranian people.”
