Sharif: I thank Trump for accepting our request to extend the ceasefire
Islamabad, April 22 (Hibya) – Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to halt operations against Iran and extend the ceasefire, issuing a message of thanks.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that he welcomed Donald Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire.
Responding to President Trump’s message of compromise, Sharif said: “On behalf of myself personally and Marshal Syed Asim Munir, I sincerely thank President Trump for kindly accepting our request to extend the ceasefire in order to allow ongoing diplomatic efforts to progress.”
Highlighting Pakistan’s mediating role, Sharif stated: “With the trust and confidence placed in it, Pakistan will continue its sincere efforts to resolve the conflict through negotiations.”
Expressing hope for lasting peace, Prime Minister Sharif said: “I sincerely hope that both sides will continue to observe the ceasefire and will be able to sign a comprehensive ‘Peace Agreement’ in the second round of talks planned in Islamabad to bring a permanent end to the conflict.”
