Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva in New York. Sharif thanked the IMF for its support for Pakistan and highlighted Georgieva’s role in strengthening the constructive partnership between Pakistan and the IMF.

Sharif said his government remains strongly committed to its reform agenda and stated that, despite regional conflicts and externally driven inflationary pressures, Pakistan is moving from macroeconomic stability toward economic recovery. Sharif noted that fiscal discipline has strengthened, external buffers have improved and investor confidence has increased.

Sharif said, “We are determined to take strong ownership of our reform agenda and continue moving forward with resolve.”

The meeting also addressed Pakistan’s upcoming IMF program review and cooperation aimed at strengthening economic resilience and sustaining reforms.
