Starmer: 4.5 million children in the United Kingdom live in poverty
London, 5 December (Hibya) – UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that child poverty remains at high levels in the country and announced that action will be taken on the issue.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized that 4.5 million children in the United Kingdom are living in poverty. He underlined that three quarters of these children belong to working families, drawing attention to the rate of in-work poverty.
Referring to the children, Prime Minister Starmer asked, “How can they reach their potential while skipping meals or trying to sleep in a cold bedroom?” and said he would not stand by and watch the situation continue.
Starmer added that the government is taking immediate action to lift these children out of poverty.
