Sybiha: Justice for the crime of aggression against Ukraine is essential for peace in Europe
Kyiv, May 7 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed Ireland’s decision to join the Enlarged Partial Agreement established for the Special Tribunal that will investigate the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha emphasized Ireland’s stance on accountability and the importance of the steps taken to establish international justice.
Expressing his thanks regarding Ireland’s decision, Sybiha said, “I thank Ireland for notifying the Council of Europe of its willingness to join the Enlarged Partial Agreement that makes the Special Tribunal possible.”
Stating that Ireland’s position is logical, Sybiha said, “Given Ireland’s consistent and principled support for all accountability efforts, this is a logical step. I am grateful to Helen McEntee for this strong stance.”
Drawing attention to the historical responsibility of the tribunal to be established, Sybiha said, “The Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression Against Ukraine will go down in history: it will hold accountable the highest political and military leadership of the aggressor and its accomplices.”
Calling on the international community, Sybiha stated, “I call on all states in Europe and beyond to join this historic effort. Justice for the crime of aggression against Ukraine is essential for lasting peace in Europe.”
