Sybiha: Removing Usmanov and Fridman from the sanctions list is unacceptable
Kyiv, September 21 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha argued that removing Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from the sanctions list would send the wrong message to Moscow and called for tighter sanctions.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha commented in a post on his social media account on the reasons for placing Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman on the sanctions list.
Sybiha said that Usmanov and Fridman are on the sanctions list on the grounds that they are part of the Russian leadership waging war against Ukraine. Sybiha described removing them from the list as “unacceptable.”
Sybiha argued that lifting the sanctions would send the wrong message to Moscow and said that pressure should be increased.
Sybiha also called for tightening sanctions, expanding individual sanctions lists and extending the sanctions renewal period from 6 months to 12 months.
