Sybiha: We honor the memory of Holocaust victims
Kyiv, January 27 (Hibya) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said in a message published on the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day that Ukraine honors the memory of the victims and reiterates its determination to stand against all forms of brutality.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha issued a statement commemorating Holocaust victims and addressing current developments.
Referring to the traces of the Holocaust on Ukrainian territory, Sybiha said: “Today, we honor the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and reaffirm our determination to stand against all forms of hatred, intolerance, and brutality. During the Holocaust, the Nazis murdered approximately 1.5 million Jews on Ukrainian soil, from Babyn Yar and Drobytskyi Yar to cities and villages across the country.”
Drawing attention to the humanitarian efforts of the Ukrainian people at the time, Sybiha added: “Even under these horrific conditions, Ukrainians demonstrated humanity by risking everything to save lives. Thousands are recognized as Righteous Among the Nations for their efforts to rescue Jews.”
Emphasizing the current situation and international solidarity, Sybiha concluded: “Today, as atrocities unseen since World War II are being committed on Ukrainian territory, we deeply appreciate the solidarity of all nations standing with Ukraine. Only unity and determination will end the aggression and restore peace in Europe.”
