Tajani: Integration of the Kurdish component into the new Syria is a fundamental element
Rome, January 21 (Hibya) – Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masrour Barzani.

Stating that efforts are underway to strengthen the economic partnership by drawing on the expertise of business partners and defense cooperation, Tajani said: “More than 400 Italian soldiers are currently deployed in the region to fight ISIS and ensure security.”
Noting that they also discussed Syria’s stability with Barzani, Tajani said: “Italy supports a peaceful and inclusive political transition in Syria with the participation of all groups in Syrian society. The integration of the Kurdish component into the new Syria is a fundamental element.”
