Trump: Birthright citizenship should be addressed by Congress
U.S. President Donald J. Trump argued that the Birthright Citizenship policy should be changed through action by Congress.
President Trump said the Birthright Citizenship policy should be amended by Congress.
Trump criticized the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to uphold the current policy, describing it as a very bad outcome for the country.
In his statement, Trump said: "The Supreme Court approved Birthright Citizenship. It is a very bad situation for our country, but we can easily fix it through Congress. With the President's support, legislation can be passed. There is no need for a long and complicated constitutional amendment. Congress should begin work today to end the Birthright Citizenship policy, which is costly and unfair to our country. They will have my complete and unwavering support throughout the process!"
