Trump made extensive remarks on the Russia-Ukraine war, military support for Ukraine, Patriot air defense systems, security guarantees, and US policy toward Iran.
Drawing attention to the severe humanitarian consequences of the Russia-Ukraine war, Trump said the loss of life on the battlefield must come to an end, stating:
"This is a terrible war. Thousands and thousands of people, most of them soldiers, are losing their lives. I see the pictures, and they are truly horrific."
Trump said he believes both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky want to end the war, adding that this presents an important opportunity for peace.
"Zelensky wants to end it as well. Putin wants to end it too. I think that's a good combination."
Stating that he speaks with Putin frequently, Trump expressed his belief that the Russian leader is open to reaching an agreement.
