U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his deep sorrow and gratitude as he paid tribute to Lindsey Graham during the funeral service.

Emphasizing the respect held for the late senator, Trump said, “Today, we have gathered with the deepest gratitude and the greatest sorrow to honor a dear friend, a loyal brother, a distinguished statesman, one of the giants of the United States Senate, and a true American original who left us far too soon; that person could only be the one and only Lindsey Graham.”

Highlighting Graham’s personal qualities, humble roots, and political rise, Trump said, “Through the strength of his unwavering convictions, the magnetism of his personality, and the goodness of his noble spirit, Lindsey rose from a small rural town in his beloved South Carolina to become an enduring figure at the highest level of American politics and a force to be reckoned with around the world.”
