Trump says he does not want Somalis in the United States
Washington, December 3 (Hibya) – U.S. President Donald Trump said he does not want Somali migrants in the United States, telling reporters that they “should go back to where they came from” and that “their country is not a good place for a reason.”
During a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Trump said, “I don’t want them in our country, I’ll be honest. If we keep bringing garbage into our country, the U.S. will go down the wrong path.”
Trump’s remarks followed reports that immigration officials planned an enforcement operation targeting Minnesota’s large Somali community.
Minneapolis and St. Paul, known as the Twin Cities, are home to one of the world’s largest Somali communities and the largest in the U.S.
In a statement after a televised cabinet meeting that lasted hours, Trump said, “I don’t want them in our country. I’ll be honest, okay? Someone will say ‘That’s not politically correct.’ I don’t care. I don’t want them in our country.”
Trump added: “In Somalia, which is barely considered a country, you know, they have nothing. They just walk around killing each other. There is no order.”
