Tsahkna: Estonia stands for sovereignty, international law, and a just peace
Tallinn, November 11 (Hibya) – Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna highlighted bilateral relations and Estonia’s stance in international crises during the opening of Israel’s embassy in Tallinn.
Minister Tsahkna met with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Saar to celebrate the historic opening of Israel’s Embassy in Estonia. In his remarks, he said:
“Today in Tallinn, I met with my esteemed colleague from Israel, Gideon Saar, on the occasion of the historic opening of Israel’s Embassy in Estonia. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in our bilateral relations. During our meeting, we discussed Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Estonia stands for sovereignty, international law, and a just and lasting peace; it increases pressure on the aggressor and supports the victim. In the Middle East, Estonia supports the two-state solution and Israel’s right to self-defense within the framework of international humanitarian law. Israel must also protect civilians and ensure uninterrupted access to humanitarian aid. We support the U.S. peace plan for Gaza, the efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye, and call on the EU to play an active role in supporting stability and reconstruction.”
