UNRWA stated that the vast majority of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon depend on the agency for educational services. It was noted that more than 35,000 children attend 61 UNRWA schools each year.

The statement added that UNRWA provides not only basic education but also technical and vocational training programmes through specialised centres.

Souad Kadri, a school principal with UNRWA in Lebanon, stressed that children’s access to safe and quality education is a fundamental right, saying: “Children everywhere in the world have the right to receive quality education in a safe and protected environment.”
