UNRWA: Over 75% of households in Gaza report reduced access to water
New York, May 14 (Hibya) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) shared alarming data regarding the water and sanitation crisis in Gaza.
According to UNRWA, over 75% of households in Gaza have reported a serious decline in access to water over the past month. A warning was also issued about the rapid deterioration of hygiene and sanitation conditions in the region.
UNRWA is working to meet basic needs through five water wells it operates across Gaza. The agency emphasized that efforts to repair more wells have been made possible thanks to the support of local communities.
UNRWA also continues its work in the Jabalia refugee camp, providing clean water and working to improve living conditions for the camp’s residents.
