UNRWA: Waste Crisis Deepens in Gaza, Health at Risk
New York, April 26 (Hibya) - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced that the ongoing war in Gaza has led to a severe buildup of waste, accelerating the spread of diseases.
In a statement, UNRWA reported that essential services have been disrupted by the conflict, particularly in the area of waste management, where serious problems have emerged. Despite all challenges, UNRWA teams continue to collect and transport solid waste in areas where it is possible.
Most recently, UNRWA staff cleaned 150 manholes, providing direct services to more than 23,000 displaced persons.
