According to CCTV, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the Ebola outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo ebolavirus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has spread to new areas in the eastern Ituri province, while the rate of new infections has begun to slow in some locations.

WHO incident manager Thierno Balde said at a press conference in Geneva that chronic instability, security challenges, and the movement of displaced populations are making it more difficult to bring the outbreak under control.

Balde said, "This outbreak is still before us, and we continue to make intensive efforts to bring it under control."

Balde added that WHO teams are working closely with local communities to improve patients' access to treatment and strengthen contact tracing, stressing that the primary objective is to contain the outbreak in the affected areas.
