Yermak: We are working to bring every child home
Kyiv, August 11 (Hibya) – Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, announced that a 14-year-old girl, who was at risk of being forcibly sent to an orphanage in Russia from a Russian-occupied area, was safely evacuated and reunited with her family thanks to the efforts of the Ukrainian Children's Rights Network.
Yermak reported that in Russian-occupied territories, a 14-year-old girl was targeted for forced transfer to a Russian orphanage. "Her father was a Ukrainian soldier, and after he died, the child remained with relatives in the occupied area. Russian child protection authorities pressured the family, threatening to take the child away by force," he said.
As part of President Volodymyr Zelensky's "brigkinsback" initiative, the Ukrainian Children's Rights Network team prepared all the documents in one day, organized the evacuation route, and brought the girl safely to the Ukraine-controlled area.
"The child is now reunited with her grandmother, who had been waiting for her for years, and is receiving the necessary support for the adaptation and recovery process," Yermak added.
