Throughout 2025, Australia placed more than 150 ships under sanctions. These measures directly restrict the Kremlin’s revenues and its war machine.

This step follows similar actions by Japan, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and other partners. It is clear that strong joint pressure is effective. We now expect a strong 19th EU sanctions package and decisive steps from the United States. Russia will not stop the war until the pressure becomes painful enough.”
