AI Gigafactories to be built in Europe
Brussels, January 16 (Hibya) - The European Union (EU) Council has adopted a change aimed at facilitating the creation of AI gigafactories in Europe and including a dedicated quantum technologies section.
The EU Council has adopted a change in the regulation governing the activities of the European High-Performance Computing Initiative (EuroHPC JU), which aims to facilitate the creation of AI gigafactories in Europe and include a dedicated section for quantum technologies.
The amended regulation will enable the development and operation of AI gigafactories in Europe, strengthening Europe’s industry and competitiveness, while fostering cooperation through public-private partnerships involving member states and industrial stakeholders, and creating world-class AI computing infrastructure.
Furthermore, the new regulation will set financing and supply rules while protecting the interests of newly established and rapidly growing companies.
The change will provide flexibility to partners, enabling them to optimize results while advancing Europe’s leadership in AI and quantum technologies.
