Cooper: Arctic security is vital for the UK and NATO
London, January 16 (Hibya) - UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper announced that cooperation with Norway has been deepened to strengthen Arctic security and that a new agreement has been signed against Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet.”
UK Foreign Secretary Cooper emphasized that the security of the Arctic region is of critical importance for the United Kingdom and NATO.
Visiting Camp Viking together with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, Cooper inspected on site the joint activities carried out by the UK Royal Marines and Norway.
Cooper stated that during the visit, a new cooperation agreement was signed between the two countries to counter sanction-evasion activities carried out by Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet.”
