Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares announced that the first commercial evacuation flights from Qatar to Spain have been launched due to the ongoing war in the Middle East.

In a statement on his social media account, Albares said that since the beginning of the war thousands of Spanish citizens have been brought back to the country, adding, “Since the beginning of the war in the Middle East, the first commercial flights from Qatar have departed for Spain. More than 4,000 Spanish citizens have already been brought back to our country.”

Emphasizing that evacuation efforts are continuing, Albares stated that Spain is using all available means to bring its citizens out of the region.

Albares added, “Our Ministry of Foreign Affairs will not leave behind any Spanish citizen who wishes to be evacuated.”
