German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock emphasized Germany's leadership role for the continent.

Baerbock noted that in Bornholm the serious escalation of the hybrid threat environment was particularly felt, and said:

"Our open and interconnected societies are vulnerable, and we must protect them together. The meetings taking place today and tomorrow will help us make progress on this front. We Europeans are taking on more responsibility and strengthening our security and defense. Germany is assuming the leadership role for our continent. I am proud to have been able to contribute to shaping these foundations during my term as Foreign Minister."
