Baghaei: Talks with the US continue through Pakistani mediation
Tehran, May 19 (Hibya) - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei announced that negotiations with the United States are continuing indirectly through Pakistan.
According to CCTV, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei made statements regarding the negotiations conducted with the United States through Pakistani mediation.
Baghaei stated that although Washington publicly rejected Iran’s 14-point peace proposal, revisions and feedback are being conveyed to Tehran through the Pakistani mediator.
Baghaei said that Iran had delivered its response to the US proposals and that the negotiations are continuing indirectly, adding, “We approach the process cautiously and with deep distrust in order to protect our national interests.”
It was also reported that Iran argues that the US and Israel are violating international law and that necessary steps have been taken to ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s contacts with Oman are also said to be continuing.
The statement emphasized that Iran would not give up its rights under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and noted that the US policy of pressure and threats would not yield results.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the parties are exchanging documents on new plans and proposals through Pakistan and that the negotiations are continuing within the framework of ending the conflict and taking confidence-building steps.
