Baqaei criticizes EU: Selective moral outrage and hypocrisy
Tehran, June 1 (Hibya) - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei criticized the European Union's statements regarding Iran, describing them as "hypocritical and reckless."
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei reacted to statements made by the European Union regarding Iran.
Baqaei described the EU's approach, which accused Iran of "exercising its legitimate right to self-defense" against United States (US) attacks launched from bases in neighboring countries, as "selective moral outrage," stating that it was "hypocritical and reckless."
Baqaei said that the EU should remain committed to the principles of the rule of law and the United Nations Charter, which it claims to uphold through the European External Action Service, and called for "stopping the blaming of those who respond to unlawful attacks instead of appeasing aggressors."
Baqaei also argued that the attacks carried out by Iran in this context constituted a "lawful exercise of the right to self-defense," adding that states have an obligation to prevent their territories from being used for attacks against other countries.
