Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baqaei stated that the 28th day of the Jalali month marks the commemoration day of Hakim Omar Khayyam.

Referring to the roots of evil in the world and Hayyam’s philosophy, Baqaei said, “In a world where rebellions and evils are the product of firm beliefs based on ignorance and false assumptions, Hayyam reminds us that if reason is unaware of its own ‘ignorance,’ it will be exposed to irreparable mistakes and errors; and if it moves away from questioning, it will turn into closed and non-critical beliefs.”

Emphasizing the importance of Iranian civilization and Hayyam’s global standing, Baqaei stated, “The value of Iranian civilization lies in the breadth of views, the diversity of perspectives, and the depth of thought regarding existence and life, and Hayyam is not only a shining star in the Iranian world, but also for human civilization.”
