Brekelmans: We Are Ready Against Russian Aggression
Amsterdam, August 21 (Hibya) – Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans stated that military preparations against possible Russian aggression are ongoing and that the eastern flank of NATO is being defended.
Defense Minister Brekelmans said that preparations against potential Russian aggression toward Ukraine are continuing.
He emphasized that Russia’s intention is not peace but preparing for a larger attack.
Brekelmans noted that Russia has the capacity to attack with more than 500 drones and 40 missiles, saying: “Forcing Putin to make peace and stopping Russian aggression can only be achieved through military strength (support and security guarantees). In Poland, support for Ukraine is almost completely unified.”
He stressed that Dutch air defense systems (Patriots, NASAMS, and anti-drone systems) are being used in Poland, thereby defending NATO’s eastern flank. Brekelmans added that the measures taken increase the security of the Netherlands and its allies.
