Budrys: The EU must show strong political will to open Ukraine’s path to membership
Vilnius, 26 November (Hibya) – Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys stated that decisions on using Russian assets for compensation and on opening the path to Ukraine’s EU membership should not be delayed.
At the Informal Foreign Affairs Council, Budrys emphasized that the European Union must demonstrate a strong and united political will regarding critical decisions related to Ukraine.
Highlighting the importance of the agreement on using frozen Russian assets for compensation and accelerating Ukraine’s EU accession process, Budrys warned that failure to take necessary steps could result in Europe losing influence both in supporting Ukraine and in protecting its own security.
He stressed that full support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and ensuring Russia’s accountability for war crimes are vital for Europe’s security.
