China condemns the demolition of a Chinese monument in Panama
Beijing, December 29 (Hibya) – Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian condemned the demolition of a Chinese monument by a local government in Panama.
According to CCTV, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian addressed the demolition of the monument in Panama at a press conference held in Beijing on Monday.
The statement said that the monument, erected to mark the 150th anniversary of the arrival of Chinese people in Panama, was demolished by a local administration.
Lin Jian said, “China strongly condemns the demolition of the monument by a local government in Panama and has lodged protests with the Panamanian side.”
He added that Panamanian President Jose Raul Mulino publicly condemned the act and that the Office of the President of Panama ordered the immediate reconstruction of the monument at its original site.
