Costa: Montenegro is making significant progress on its EU path
Brussels, March 17 (Hibya) - European Council President Antonio Costa met with Montenegro’s Prime Minister Milojko Spajic to assess the country’s progress in EU accession negotiations and preparations for the upcoming EU-Western Balkans Summit.
European Council President Antonio Costa held a meeting with Montenegro’s Prime Minister Milojko Spajic to discuss the latest state of the country’s EU membership process.
Highlighting the momentum in negotiations, Costa said: "Montenegro is making significant progress on its path to EU membership. Today, another stage of the negotiations has been completed. I met with Prime Minister Milojko Spajic to discuss an ambitious timeline for concluding the negotiations."
Emphasizing the conditions needed for success, Costa added: "To achieve these goals, sustained reform efforts and consensus between parties and institutions are required."
He also noted that preparations for the regional summit were discussed: "We also discussed preparations for the EU-Western Balkans Summit. We are already looking forward to meeting European and Western Balkan leaders in Tivat."
