President of the European Council Antonio Costa thanked Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk for hosting the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk.

Referring to historical events, Costa said, “In the 1980s, many doubted that totalitarianism could be defeated. Yet countless Poles refused to give up their hopes for freedom and democracy.”

Speaking about Ukraine’s resistance, Costa stated, “In 2022, many doubted Ukraine’s resilience, courage, and unity. Yet Ukraine continues to resist and fight.”

Highlighting the vision for reconstruction, Costa said, “But our vision goes beyond the war. We are already preparing Ukraine’s future. Reconstruction is not only about repairing destruction; it is about building a better Ukraine.”
