Estonian Foreign Minister Tsahkna shared a post on his social media account about the award ceremony held in the Latvian capital Riga.

Tsahkna said language and music bring societies closer together and announced that he and Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braze had presented the Estonia-Latvia Language Promotion Award for the 17th time.

The award is given to honor individuals who strengthen ties between the two countries through language teaching, translation and cultural exchange.

This year’s award was presented to Katarina Magere, a teacher of Estonian language and cultural history at Riga Estonian Basic School.

Tsahkna said Magere helps children from different linguistic backgrounds discover the Estonian language and culture and speak Estonian with confidence.
