The European Commission allocated a total of €63 million in humanitarian aid to support populations affected by ongoing armed conflicts in Myanmar and Rohingya refugees living in neighboring countries.

The support was announced as part of the EU’s first aid package for South and Southeast Asia for 2026.

Of the €38.6 million allocated for Myanmar, the funds are planned to be used for food assistance, shelter, clean water and sanitation, health services, mine risk education and education in emergencies. The €23.4 million allocated to Bangladesh will support approximately 1.2 million Rohingya refugees and host communities, particularly in Cox’s Bazar.

In line with regional needs, an additional €1 million was also allocated to provide life-saving assistance to refugees and host communities in India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
