Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi meets Turkish President Erdoğan
Istanbul, Jan. 30 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who traveled to Türkiye for talks with senior Turkish officials, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the very good relations between Iran and Türkiye in various fields and emphasized their determination to strengthen ties in all areas.
Araghchi thanked the Turkish government and people for their solidarity with Iran, Ankara’s firm stance, particularly President Erdoğan’s statements supporting Iran’s sovereignty and rejecting foreign interference, as well as his emphasis on unity among Islamic countries against the Zionist regime’s genocide, war incitement and expansionism.
Araghchi also stressed the need to strengthen solidarity among Islamic and regional countries to confront threats and harmful interventions in the internal affairs of West Asian countries.
Detailing recent events in Iran that turned violent after radical and terrorist elements infiltrated peaceful public gatherings, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of security personnel and civilians, the Iranian foreign minister underlined the importance of vigilance by all regional countries against misleading and one-sided narratives presented by Western and Hebrew media regarding Iran’s internal affairs.
Araghchi recalled the principled position of the Islamic Republic of Iran on using diplomacy to protect the interests of the Iranian people and prevent the escalation of regional tensions, stressing that Tehran has never turned away from negotiations and dialogue based on mutual respect and recognition of the legitimate interests and concerns of the Iranian people.
President Erdoğan, for his part, conveyed his warmest greetings to the Iranian president and expressed confidence that the Iranian government and people would overcome current challenges through national unity and solidarity.
Referring to his country’s efforts to de-escalate tensions and return to diplomacy, Erdoğan emphasized that the region cannot withstand further escalation of insecurity. Stating that diplomacy is the only solution to Iran’s nuclear issue, President Erdoğan said Türkiye is ready to make every effort in this regard.
