Guterres: The conflict in the Middle East triggered a global energy shock
New York, June 23 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres drew attention to the energy crisis, stating that the conflicts in the Middle East have caused serious economic and humanitarian consequences on a global scale.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that the conflict in the Middle East has triggered the largest energy shock among all energy shocks.
Guterres emphasized that for many developing countries, the current situation is not only an energy crisis but also a severe shock affecting debt, food, and development.
Noting that a possible peace agreement would provide significant relief, Guterres said: “Any peace agreement will provide much-needed relief, but its effects are likely to be long-lasting.”
