Pakistan and Russia discussed cooperation in counterterrorism
Islamabad, June 23 (Hibya) - The 12th meeting of the Pakistan-Russia Joint Working Group on Countering International Terrorism was held in Islamabad.
According to a statement by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting was co-chaired by Pakistan Foreign Ministry Secretary Muhammad Khalid Khan Jamali and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Lyubinsky.
The discussions focused particularly on terrorist threats originating from Afghanistan and their impact on neighboring countries and regional security.
The two sides also reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation in counterterrorism and exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in regional and international platforms, particularly within the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
