Hegseth: U.S. forces neutralized a senior ISIS leader in Nigeria
Washington, May 16 (Hibya) - U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that U.S. forces, in coordination with the Nigerian Armed Forces, killed Abu Bilal al-Minuki, a senior leader of the terrorist organization ISIS, along with the terrorists accompanying him, during a precision operation.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth addressed international coordination in the fight against terrorism, the strategic objectives of military operations, and the precision operations carried out to ensure regional stability.
Providing details about the operation and military cooperation, Hegseth said, "Last night, U.S. forces, in coordination with the Nigerian Armed Forces, killed Abu Bilal al-Minuki and other ISIS leaders."
Drawing attention to the political background of the operation and the instructions given, Hegseth stated, "That is why we hunted down this senior ISIS leader, who had been killing Christians in Nigeria for months, and killed him and his entire gang."
Hegseth noted that the operation was led by the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), concluding his statement with the words, "Together with the President of Nigeria and under the direction of President Trump, U.S. Africa Command carried out a precision operation to eliminate this terrorist."
